Golden Age Center Unveils Giving Tree

Boston, March 22, 2019 — Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center’s president Peter Chan, and executive director Ruth Moy took great pride in announcing the dedication of the Giving Tree today by by hosting a luncheon. The Giving Tree is located in the main lobby of Hong Lok House, at 25 Essex Street in Chinatown.

The “Giving Tree” is a beautiful brass and walnut installation of a tree, which is mounted on the wall of the Hong Lok House main lobby. Each leaf represents a donation of $1,000 or more and bears the inscription in both English and Chinese of the name or names of persons the donor wishes to honor or memorialize.

Proceeds from the “Giving Tree” donations are used to help defray the cost of the many programs and services offered by Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center. Seniors can enjoy a hot Chinese-style lunch, get help with challenging issues, socialize by participating in activities and, if needed, be cared for by the professional staff of an Adult Day Health program at three locations: Hong Lok House, Quincy Tower and Brighton House. These services have been offered by Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center in Chinatown and beyond for 47 years.

Those wishing to help support these many vital services can still secure their permanent space in Chinatown in the form of a leaf by making a donation of $1,000 or more to Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center, and keep the “Giving Tree” growing.
